FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything international students ask about studying in the UK, answered clearly.

What are the main benefits of studying in the UK?
The UK offers globally recognised qualifications, shorter degree durations (3 years UG, 1 year PG), world-renowned universities, a multicultural environment, and the Graduate visa allowing you to work in the UK for up to 2 years after graduation — making it one of the best study-abroad destinations in the world.
Who is eligible to study in the UK as an international student?
Any international student who meets the academic and English language requirements of their chosen UK university is eligible. You must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) financial requirements and be accepted into an approved institution. AAEC Global helps assess your eligibility and shortlist the right universities.
How do I apply for a UK student visa?
You apply online at gov.uk after receiving your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from your university. You’ll need to show proof of finances, pay the visa fee (£490) and health surcharge, and submit biometric information. Applications can be lodged up to 6 months before the course start date. AAEC Global provides full visa documentation support.
Can I work while studying in the UK?
Yes. Full-time international students on a valid UK Student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacation periods. This helps offset living costs significantly.
What is the Graduate visa and how does it work?
The Graduate visa (formerly known as the post-study work visa) allows UK degree graduates to live, work, or look for work in the UK for 2 years after finishing their studies (3 years for PhD graduates). It applies to any skill level and is not tied to a specific employer, giving you full flexibility to explore careers.
When should I start my application to study in the UK?
For the main September intake, we recommend starting your application 12–18 months in advance. UCAS undergraduate applications typically close in January of the year you intend to start. Postgraduate applications can be submitted year-round but popular courses fill up fast — earlier is always better.
Can I study in the UK after completing Year 12 (high school)?
Yes. Many UK universities offer foundation year programmes and pathway courses specifically for international students completing high school who don’t yet meet direct entry requirements. This is a popular and effective route into undergraduate study at top UK universities.
